Privacy notice
This notice explains how Still Their Dad handles personal data across our two sites, stilltheirdad.org.uk and help.stilltheirdad.org.uk. It is written for the UK (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
Still Their Dad is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are a small organisation, currently an unincorporated association and registering as a charity as we grow. You can reach us about anything in this notice through the contact page.
What we collect
- Messages you send us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address and your message. So we can reply, your email is also used as the reply-to address.
- Anti-spam information. To stop abuse of the form we record the time and the IP address a message came from, and the form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly check that confirms you are a person without tracking you across the web.
- Cookieless analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic, for example how many people visit and which pages are useful. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect information that identifies you.
- Technical and security data. Like any website, our servers and our network provider (Cloudflare) process basic connection information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. Cloudflare may set a short-lived, strictly necessary security cookie to tell real visitors from bots.
- A setting stored on your own device. Your light or dark theme preference is saved in your browser. It stays on your device and we never see it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics are cookieless. The only cookies that may be set are strictly necessary security cookies from Cloudflare to protect the site. Your browser may also store your theme preference locally, which is not a cookie and is never sent to us.
How we use your data, and our lawful basis
- To read and reply to your message. Lawful basis: your consent in sending it, and our legitimate interest in responding to you.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service and the people who use it.
- To understand overall traffic through cookieless analytics. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving the site, using data that does not identify you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your data, and we never share it for marketing. We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only to run the service:
- our website host, which stores and serves the sites;
- Cloudflare, which provides our content delivery, security and the cookieless analytics;
- the email provider / SMTP relay that delivers and stores contact messages.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
International transfers
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement) so your data stays protected.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, normally no more than 12 months, then we delete them. Technical and security logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. Cookieless analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you.
Keeping your data secure
Messages are sent to us over an encrypted, authenticated connection, and access to them is limited to the people who run Still Their Dad. No system is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact page. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This site is intended for adults, usually parents. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
